Background: Pain is a frewquent and disabling symptom experienced by individuals with inflammatory arthritis. More than 50% of patients with inflammatory arthritis report visual analog scale (VAS) pain scores >30/100 mm despite treatment with disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs.
